He was an active master silversmith in Hoorn between 1901 and 1939. He was known for his fine and detailed Dutch miniatures, such as carousels, drawbridges, and ships. The miniature is hallmarked with the maker's mark JvDH and the 'zwaardje' (small sword) for at least second grade silver. The miniature is very detailed. The miniature is in good condition.
